Hours: 8:30am–3:30pm, 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (including INSETs)

Contract: Fixed Term – 2 years until August 2028

Whitehouse Primary School is seeking a caring, committed, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team for a blended role of 1:1 support and small group work. The role involves working closely with a child in Upper Key Stage 2, providing personalised support to help them access learning, develop independence and thrive within the classroom.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the class teacher and Inclusion team to deliver consistent, high‑quality support tailored to the child’s individual needs;
  • Adopt relational practice and a trauma‑informed approach;
  • Adapt learning activities and support engagement and progress;
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, and professionals;
  • Support safeguarding and welfare of children.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children with additional needs (C&ICSEMH), ideally in a primary school setting.
  • Knowledge of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), particularly SEMH and Communication and Interaction needs.
  • Ability to adopt relational practice and a trauma‑informed approach.
  • Patient, resilient, calm and flexible in changing situations.
  • Capability to adapt learning activities and use appropriate strategies to support engagement and progress.
  • Strong teamwork and effective communication with colleagues, parents and professionals.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
