Whitehall Resources are currently looking for a Mainframe z/OS and CICS Systems Programmer on a hybrid basis in London for an initial 6 month contract.

The Role:

  • The client is looking for someone who is able to work both collaboratively and independently when required.
  • Must be able to take technical ownership of significant projects.
  • Good communication skills needed with the ability to explain technical subjects to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability and willingness to occasionally coach less experienced team members would be desirable.

Key Skills:

  • Extensive experience in z/OS and CICS Systems Programming.
  • Ability to take end to end technical ownership of significant upgrade projects including the planning, installation, customisation and migration of new z/OS and CICS releases.
  • Extensive experience of a wide range of ISV software from Broadcom, BMC and other vendors.
  • Experience in System/z hardware configuration – HCD/IOCP and experience of System/z HMC.
  • Experience of Mainframe Storage management products such as DFSMS, FDR/ABR, DFDSS & CA-DISK.
  • Ability to write/read/debug programs in a batch and online environment like REXX, ASSEMBLER etc.
  • Familiarity with Mainframe Security Administration (RACF & ACF2) would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Websphere MQ.
  • Familiarity with OPS/MVS Automation would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Dell EMC Disk and Virtual Tape storage would be advantageous.

Key responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibility for maintaining the z/OS, JES2, CICS & associated ISV software environments.
  • Taking end to end responsibility for maintenance, installation, upgrade of IBM and ISV software components in a business critical environment.
  • Resolving any system-related problems that may arise in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Monitoring system performance, and resource utilisation.
  • Participation in DR Tests.
  • Maintaining software license keys.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert for all aspects of Mainframe Infrastructure.
