Whitehall Resources require a Linux Engineer to work with a key client on a 6 month initial contract.
This role will involve on site work in Cheshire 3 days per week. Inside IR35.
Role Description/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in technology with working experience in Unix
- Must be RedHat Certified and ITIL Foundation certified
- Working experience over 6 years in fast paced UNIX environment
- Excellent communication and articulation skills
- Ability to drive interaction with senior stakeholders
- Comfortable to work in APAC/EMEA and weekends
- Unix Administration and troubleshooting skills, clear concepts of LVM, user management & operating system
- Troubleshooting on filesystem & user access related issues
- Deep understanding of UNIX OS & troubleshooting on various UNIX OS issues
- Knowledge of automation, Chef, powerbroker technologies
- AWS/cloud knowledge would be an added advantage
- Experience in remote troubleshooting and diagnosis of UNIX issues
- Work with vendors like Linux & Oracle in coordinating hardware/software issues
- Understanding and troubleshooting experience of Veritas volume manager and Veritas cluster
- Basic Tivoli Storage Manager Client administration & able to troubleshoot backup failures & remediate the same
- Good understanding of network connectivity and protocols with respect to the UNIX platform
- Exposure to ticketing tools like Service Now
- Understanding & experience working on DNS, FTP & NFS
Essential Skills/Basic Qualification:
- Engineering graduate with 6-8 years of experience in supporting enterprise Unix
- RedHat Linux and ITIL foundation certified
- Excellent knowledge of Veritas volume manager, Veritas cluster and VVR
- Knowledge on AIX/Cloud
