Our client provides a range of information and consultancy services to the paint and coatings industry. They have significant knowledge and capability in coating formulation, development, evaluation, and complimentary market knowledge. They are able to provide a range of services from standard test work to bespoke technical development or evaluation projects.
A position has arisen in their R & D laboratories in the technical team testing customers' products and providing support on R&D projects. The work will be predominantly coatings test work to be conducted in the 17025 accredited labs. This role will ideally suit an experienced analytical chemist or paint technologist.
Role and Responsibilities- Testing:
- Paint & coating characterisation - comprehensive range of wet and dry film testing
- Environmental exposure – QUV, Xenon, salt spray, humidity, sulphur dioxide, natural weathering
- Painting / coating application – powder coating, wet spray, hand painting
- Materials characterisation - GPC, TGA, DSC, microscopy, SEM, viscometry, rheology, particle size, surface tension, wetting
- Analytical chemistry - HPLC, GC, IR, UV
- Experience of working in an analytical laboratory (ideally paint or coatings)
- A strong background in technical delivery in an industrial or commercial environment
- A competent chemist with good analytical skills and an understanding of material properties
- Good communication skills – reporting & recording technical results
- Familiarity with 17025 accreditation and following standard test methods
