Our client is an international trader and distributor of speciality chemicals, providing a fully integrated business service to suppliers and manufacturers around the globe. A role has arisen to ensure compliance with International and European regulations regarding the handling of hazardous chemicals. Based at the London offices and reporting to the Reach CLP Compliance Manager, the REACH and CLP Compliance Specialist will also provide support to the team as well as the General Manager.
Summary Profile:
- Analyse trade compliance requirements, plan and implement compliance programs for the company's EMEA logistics operations, focusing on import/export related regulations, especially in the chemical industry.
- Monitor compliance procedures and resolve problems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain compliance scheme for International and European regulations regarding the handling of hazardous chemicals.
- Provide periodical training and workshops for the EMEA business units on REACH and CLP related matters, create presentations and e-learning materials.
- Support business departments through the REACH compliance program and maintain the REACH database and Reach Docstore; monitor REACH registration dossiers and consistency of information communicated within the supply chain.
- Support business departments in the CLP compliance program and monitor compliance with CLP requirements; monitor CLP notifications and consistency of information communicated within the supply chain.
- Support business departments in REACH/CLP enforcement authorities audits.
- Analyse other EU regulatory compliance requirements related to chemicals for import and export and support business departments in their compliance procedures (BPR, RoHS, PIC, Waste regulation, Food additives, Drug precursors, etc).
- Co-work with other staff of the department in other fields of Logistics Management (such as export or import procedures and risk management).
- Participate in inventory inspections of storage locations for chemicals with a focus on hazardous materials.
- Assess Logistics Service Providers in terms of compliance with Seveso/COMAH for warehousing.
Candidate Specification:
Experience:
- Considerable experience working within a multinational trading and logistics environment.
- Experience in REACH and CLP implementation and monitoring compliance.
- Experience in other chemical regulations (BPR, RoHS, PIC, etc).
- Some experience working within a global logistics structure would be advantageous.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Knowledge of import and export customs procedures.
- Knowledge of REACH and GHS/CLP regulation and its implementation programs.
- Knowledge of other regulations related to chemicals (BPR, RoHS, PIC, etc).
- Numerical and analytical skills, presentation and report writing skills, IT skills including using Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of business practices in the logistics industry in Europe.
Education:
Candidates should be educated to degree level or equivalent.
