Laboratory Manager – Paints, Inks and Coatings – Ref 2456 Our client is an independent coatings manufacturer supplying a wide range of decorative paints, coatings, and high-performance printing inks. To strengthen the existing technical team, they are seeing to appoint a Laboratory Manager to manage product development, technical service and the day to day managing of the laboratory and technical team. This role will report to the Technical Manager. Responsibilities: * Manage the laboratory workload in line with customer demands and business priorities. * Management of laboratory staff. * Provide on-site technical service, supporting product trials and assisting in problem solving. * Maintenance of the management records relating to technical work conducted. * Answer internal and external technical queries on products. * Conduct practical laboratory work where required. * Assist the Technical Manager in managing the company’s technical affairs. * Help to ensure the company’s products comply with current and future proposed legislation. * Hold technical meetings with raw material suppliers regarding any new raw materials required or being offered to the industry. * Support the sales, purchasing and production functions with respect to technical matters. * Ensure that Health and Safety standards are maintained, and the laboratory is kept in a clean and tidy condition and is equipped and always resourced. * Help to ensure that all laboratory staff are trained to maintain their technical skills and operate safe working practices. Candidate Profile: * Technical background with experience of paints and coatings printing inks, water-based technologies. * Ideally qualified to Degree level with several years’ industrial experience. * Experience in formulating coatings products and testing frameworks. * Previous supervisory experience. * Hands on, well organised and enthusiastic individual with excellent communication skills. * Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team. * Training and support will be provided. * Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
