Our client is a speciality chemicals distributor, there are three divisions within the company: Industrial, Pharma and Personal Care. This role sits within the Industrial team and reports to the Industrial General Manager. This is a new, full time, permanent position merging a former part-time marketing role with the need for more sales support and encompasses some maternity cover for a similar internal role.
The Role
The primary function of the role is to work as the information hub of the Industrial Chemicals Division. The role requires someone who must be comfortable in an active sales environment, ready to turn their hand to any aspect of working within a busy SME as required:
- External enquiry co-ordination: Receive and progress customer enquiries (telephone & email / web) of a technical and commercial nature to the satisfaction of the customer and within a specified timescale. Confidently and proactively contact customers to provide technical/commercial information. Handle multiple enquiries and follow-ups at the same time, with differing timescales and resolutions.
- Internal co-ordination of sales team activity: Act as a proactive source of information for the field sales team. Preparation of reports, presentations and figures for internal & external use. Close co-operation with Business Support - accounts, credit control, logistics, HS&E.
- Co-ordinate and implement marketing strategy: Co-ordinate all online marketing activity. Prepare marketing activity presentations for internal and external use.
Candidate Profile
Cultural fit for this role is essential: we are looking for a can-do person who is happy to get stuck in to get the job done, whether the task falls into sales, commercial, marketing, technical, business development, logistics, or regulatory.
- Chemistry or Materials Science (or similar) graduate
- Friendly, efficient customer service attitude & phone manner
- Highly proficient at Microsoft Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- The ability to listen and interpret customer needs
- Forward-thinking & proactive attitude to problem solving
- A social person who enjoys their job (Preferred)
- Technical experience of working within the Coatings, Adhesives, Sealants & Elastomers (CASE), Homecare Industrial & Institutional (HC, I&I), or plastics markets (Preferred)
- Sales and commercial experience
