Events & Catering Assistant – Seasonal Christmas
Whitehall Garden Centre is a family-run, award-winning business offering a wide range of shopping, dining and seasonal experiences for our customers.
We are looking for enthusiastic, friendly and energetic temporary Events & Catering Assistants to join our team during our exciting Christmas events.
This is a fantastic seasonal opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, creating memorable experiences and being part of a busy events environment.
The Role
As an Events Assistant, you will help ensure our Christmas events run smoothly and provide an enjoyable experience for customers of all ages.
- Welcoming customers and providing a friendly and professional service
- Assisting with the smooth running of Christmas events and activities
- Serving hot chocolate & mulled wine
- Assisting with the smooth running of the catering huts
- Helping to prepare event areas before opening and tidy them afterwards
- Setting up and dressing event spaces to create an exciting seasonal atmosphere
- Assisting customers with event activities and answering questions
- Helping to manage queues and customer flow during busy periods
- Checking tickets, bookings or event details where required
- Supporting Santa and Christmas activities where appropriate
- Helping with children's activities and ensuring children and families have an enjoyable experience
- Ensuring all areas remain clean, tidy and well presented throughout the day
- Working closely with other members of the Events and Garden Centre teams
- Reporting any issues or customer concerns to the appropriate manager
- Following all Health & Safety procedures and event guidelines
- Helping to ensure the highest standards of customer service are maintained at all times
- Undertaking any other reasonable duties required to support the successful running of the events
Christmas Characters & Costumes
Some positions will involve wearing an elf costume and interacting with children and families to help create a fun and magical Christmas experience.
Elf costumes will be provided by Whitehall Garden Centre
Applicants must be comfortable wearing a costume and engaging confidently with customers
A friendly, enthusiastic and outgoing personality is particularly important for these roles
About You
We are looking for people who are:
- Friendly, approachable and confident when speaking to customers
- Enthusiastic and enjoy creating a fun and welcoming atmosphere
- Confident working with children and families
- Reliable, punctual and well organised
- Able to remain calm and professional during busy periods
- A good team player who is happy to get involved
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment
- Flexible and willing to work weekends and busy seasonal periods
- Comfortable wearing an elf costume where required
- Able to use their own initiative and follow instructions
- Previous experience in events, hospitality, retail, customer service or working with children would be advantageous, but is not essential.
Working Pattern
This is a seasonal role, with shifts available throughout Christmas event periods.
Weekend working is essential, particularly during the busy Christmas period. Aling with evenings.
