Events Assistant – Seasonal Halloween & Christmas

Whitehall Garden Centre is a family-run, award-winning business offering a wide range of shopping, dining and seasonal experiences for our customers.

We are looking for enthusiastic, friendly and energetic Events Assistants to join our team during our exciting Halloween and Christmas events.

This is a fantastic seasonal opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, creating memorable experiences and being part of a busy events environment.

Seasonal Event Dates

Halloween

23rd October – 30th October 2026

Christmas

4th, 7th & 8th November 2026

18th November – 24th December 2026

The Role

As an Events Assistant, you will help ensure our Halloween and Christmas events run smoothly and provide an enjoyable experience for customers of all ages.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Welcoming customers and providing a friendly and professional service
• Assisting with the smooth running of Halloween and Christmas events and activities
• Helping to prepare event areas before opening and tidy them afterwards
• Setting up and dressing event spaces to create an exciting seasonal atmosphere
• Assisting customers with event activities and answering questions
• Helping to manage queues and customer flow during busy periods
• Checking tickets, bookings or event details where required
• Supporting Santa and Christmas activities where appropriate
• Helping with children's activities and ensuring children and families have an enjoyable experience
• Assisting with Halloween activities, displays and customer experiences
• Ensuring event areas remain clean, tidy and well presented throughout the day
• Working closely with other members of the Events and Garden Centre teams
• Reporting any issues or customer concerns to the appropriate manager
• Following all Health & Safety procedures and event guidelines
• Helping to ensure the highest standards of customer service are maintained at all times
• Undertaking any other reasonable duties required to support the successful running of the events

Christmas Characters & Costumes

Some positions will involve wearing an elf costume and interacting with children and families to help create a fun and magical Christmas experience.

Elf costumes will be provided by Whitehall Garden Centre

Applicants must be comfortable wearing a costume and engaging confidently with customers

A friendly, enthusiastic and outgoing personality is particularly important for these roles

About You

We are looking for people who are:

• Friendly, approachable and confident when speaking to customers
• Enthusiastic and enjoy creating a fun and welcoming atmosphere
• Confident working with children and families
• Reliable, punctual and well organised
• Able to remain calm and professional during busy periods
• A good team player who is happy to get involved
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment
• Flexible and willing to work weekends and busy seasonal periods
• Comfortable wearing an elf costume where required
• Able to use their own initiative and follow instructions
• Previous experience in events, hospitality, retail, customer service or working with children would be advantageous, but is not essential.

Working Pattern

This is a seasonal role, with shifts available throughout the Halloween and Christmas event periods.

Weekend working is essential, particularly during the busy Christmas period.

Applicants must be available to work a combination of weekdays and weekends, depending on the event schedule and business requirements.
