As a Project Engineer - EV Infrastructure (Full-Time, Permanent), you will lead the technical aspects of deploying our client's Charge Management System (CMS) at customer sites. This is a dynamic, field-focused role that requires expertise in electrical systems, telecommunications, and industrial automation. Key Responsibilities:
- Site Assessments & Technical Analysis: Conduct site evaluations and analyze electrical designs for EV infrastructure deployments. Determine optimal power meter placement and assess LAN/WAN network infrastructure for IoT connectivity.
- Deployment & Commissioning: Oversee the installation and commissioning of power meters, local controllers, and networking equipment (installation performed by third-party contractors). Ensure seamless integration of charging infrastructure using industry protocols such as OCPP and Modbus.
- Troubleshooting & Compliance: Diagnose and resolve technical issues, ensuring regulatory compliance with UK electrical standards. Collaborate with third-party vendors to overcome integration challenges.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration: Act as the key technical liaison between customers, OEMs (chargers, vehicles, electrical infrastructure), and installation teams. Work closely with internal software and product teams to refine and enhance the platform.
- Process Improvement & Industry Engagement: Develop inspection and test plans to ensure high-quality deployments. Establish relationships with local installers, maintenance providers, and industry stakeholders. Provide technical expertise in client meetings and deliver regular project updates.
Qualifications:
- Strong hands-on technical problem-solving skills across electrical, telecommunications, and software disciplines.
- Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Control Systems, or Telecommunications.
- Experience in designing and commissioning industrial control systems, LAN network infrastructure, and/or electrical distribution systems.
- Working knowledge of UK electrical regulations and standards.
- Based in London (or surrounding areas) with the ability to travel across the UK.
- Strong coordination skills to manage interactions with customers, OEMs, and contractors.
- Ability to adapt to evolving project scopes, customer needs, and emerging technologies.
- Willingness to provide urgent after-hours support if required.
- Experience in maintaining detailed records of test procedures, troubleshooting steps, and customer interactions.
- Knowledge of EV charging infrastructure and protocols (e.g., OCPP) is a strong plus.
- Prior experience in the EV industry or smart grid technologies is highly desirable.
