First Military Recruitment are currently seeking an ex-military / veteran Class 2 HGV Driver on behalf of one of our clients.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a former member of the Armed Forces looking to build a long-term career within a professional driving operation.

Monday to Friday with no evening or weekend work.

Start and finish times can also be adjusted earlier where required.

Our client is specifically looking for ex-military or veteran drivers , recognising the strong transferable qualities gained through military service, including discipline, reliability, responsibility and a professional approach.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Driving an 18-tonne curtain-sided vehicle.
  • Completing multiple collections and deliveries across London and the South.
  • Ensuring all deliveries and collections are completed safely and on time.
  • Conducting daily vehicle checks and reporting any defects.
  • Completing all relevant delivery and collection paperwork.
  • Maintaining compliance with drivers’ hours, tachograph and road transport legislation.
  • Providing a professional and courteous service to customers.
  • Ensuring the vehicle is kept clean, secure and in good condition.
  • Working independently while maintaining strong communication with the wider team.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Previous service within the UK Armed Forces is essential.
  • Full HGV Class 2 / Category C licence.
  • Valid Driver CPC.
  • Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
  • Previous Class 2 driving experience
  • Professional and responsible approach to driving.
  • Strong awareness of road safety and compliance.
  • Reliable, punctual and disciplined.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Comfortable working independently and managing a multi-drop/collection schedule.
  • Good knowledge of London and the South would be advantageous.
