First Military Recruitment are currently seeking an ex-military / veteran Class 2 HGV Driver on behalf of one of our clients.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a former member of the Armed Forces looking to build a long-term career within a professional driving operation.
- You will be responsible for driving an
- 18-tonne curtain-sided vehicle, completing multiple collections and deliveries across
London and the South.
The role offers an excellent work-life balance, operating
Monday to Friday with no evening or weekend work.
Start and finish times can also be adjusted earlier where required.
Our client is specifically looking for ex-military or veteran drivers , recognising the strong transferable qualities gained through military service, including discipline, reliability, responsibility and a professional approach.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Driving an 18-tonne curtain-sided vehicle.
- Completing multiple collections and deliveries across London and the South.
- Ensuring all deliveries and collections are completed safely and on time.
- Conducting daily vehicle checks and reporting any defects.
- Completing all relevant delivery and collection paperwork.
- Maintaining compliance with drivers’ hours, tachograph and road transport legislation.
- Providing a professional and courteous service to customers.
- Ensuring the vehicle is kept clean, secure and in good condition.
- Working independently while maintaining strong communication with the wider team.
Skills and Qualifications
- Previous service within the UK Armed Forces is essential.
- Full HGV Class 2 / Category C licence.
- Valid Driver CPC.
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
- Previous Class 2 driving experience
- Professional and responsible approach to driving.
- Strong awareness of road safety and compliance.
- Reliable, punctual and disciplined.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Comfortable working independently and managing a multi-drop/collection schedule.
- Good knowledge of London and the South would be advantageous.
