Who you are
We are looking for a detail-oriented, self-motivated and proactive finance professional to join our Finance Team, who is comfortable working across multiple processes, with the confidence to consult effectively with internal teams and external partners. You will bring strong organisational skills, a curiosity to investigate variances and resolve issues, and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced and busy retail environment.
Primary objectives & what you’ll be doing
- Banking
- Perform bank matching on a weekly basis and investigate discrepancies.
- Post journals for banking transactions such as credit card charges, bank charges, and payments & receipts.
- Prepare the weekly cash summary and distribute it to the management team.
- Assist with banking administration, including new store set‑up, monitoring shop statement postings, and managing bank users and mandates.
- Prepare bank account and cash in transit reconciliations and post adjustments for discrepancies by the month‑end deadline.
- Post month end banking journals such as credit card accruals & sales accruals.
- Perform monthly transaction level sales reconciliations.
- Reconcile gift card sales and redemptions.
- Ownership over assigned areas of the P&L – posting month‑end accruals, budgeting and forecasting, and providing commentary for monthly management accounts pack.
- Assist with recognition and analysis of Fixed Assets.
- National Statistic requests.
- Other ad‑hoc work & projects as required.
What you’ll need
- Experience of completing bank reconciliations and bank postings (including setting up payments) in a multi‑site consumer environment – e.g. retail, restaurants etc. (Required)
- Comfortable preparing and posting journals and accruals.
- Confidence managing high‑volume transactional data with accuracy and consistency.
- Strong analytical skills and excellent eye for detail.
- Strong critical thinking skills to be able to investigate variances / reconciling items efficiently.
- Excellent organisational and numerical skills.
- Highly proficient in excel e.g., lookups, pivot tables, manipulating large amounts of data.
- Team player with a proactive mindset and good time management.
- Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
