The Role
We are currently recruiting for a Transport Planner to join a busy and fast-paced transport operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating container movements, working closely with suppliers, ports, terminals, customer service and transport teams to ensure movements are planned efficiently and completed within required timeframes.
This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual with strong communication skills and a good understanding of UK geography.
Key Responsibilities
- Dealing with suppliers and coordinating transport requirements.
- Relaying relevant information to Customer Service and Transport Teams via email and telephone.
- Optimising routing to ensure the most profitable solution for container movements.
- Communicating with ports and terminals to coordinate movements effectively.
- Ensuring correct revenue and costs are recorded for completed movements.
- Adhering to both internal and external cut-off times.
- Liaising with the wider team to ensure the most efficient planning of transport movements.
- Monitoring and managing transport requirements to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.
- Resolving operational issues quickly and effectively.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for candidates who have:
- Previous experience as a Transport Planner β ideal but not essential.
- Confident and clear communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Good knowledge of UK geography.
- The ability to work on their own initiative as well as part of a team.
- Quick and efficient problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Flexibility to meet the demands of the business.
- A proactive approach to transport planning and operational challenges.
