We’re recruiting for an experienced Import & Export Coordinator to join a friendly and well-established freight forwarding business in Portsmouth. This is a varied role within a close-knit operations team, with a 50:50 split between import customs clearance and freight forwarding. You’ll manage shipments from initial booking through to final delivery, working across sea and air freight while maintaining regular contact with customers and suppliers.

The Role

  • Managing import shipments from booking through to delivery
  • Completing and processing import customs entries via CDS
  • Coordinating sea and air freight movements
  • Arranging collections and deliveries
  • Liaising with customers, hauliers, shipping lines and other suppliers
  • Tracking shipments and keeping customers updated
  • Preparing and checking shipping and customs documentation
  • Handling queries and resolving any issues that arise
  • Ensuring shipments are processed accurately and within deadlines

About You

We’re looking for someone with 2+ years’ experience in freight forwarding, ideally with a strong background in import operations and customs. You should have:

  • Previous experience within a freight forwarding environment
  • Hands-on experience with CDS and import customs entries
  • Experience handling sea and/or air freight
  • Good understanding of the import process from clearance through to delivery
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • A proactive, can-do approach and the ability to work to deadlines

Experience with CNS, Destin8, Boxtop or Descartes would be advantageous.
