Salary: Up to £38,000 depending on experience - with overtime

Hours: 07:30 - 16:45 Monday to Thursday, 07:30 - 12:30 Friday, with potential for overtime

Our client is looking for a skilled CNC Machinist / Operator / Programmer to join their manufacturing team. You will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating FANUC controlled CNC machines, using Fusion 360 or similar CAM software to produce high-precision components. This is a hands-on role covering the full machining process—from interpreting engineering drawings through to producing finished, quality-assured parts.

Responsibilities

  • Create, modify, and optimise CNC programs using Fusion 360 or similar CAM software
  • Interpret 2D engineering drawings and 3D models
  • Select tooling, cutting strategies, speeds, and feeds
  • Generate tool paths for CNC milling and/or turning
  • Post-process programs for FANUC controlled machines
  • Simulate tool paths to ensure accuracy and prevent collisions
  • Improve cycle times, tool life, and surface finish through optimisation
  • Set up CNC machines including tooling, fixtures, and offsets
  • Load and verify CNC programs
  • Produce and check first-off parts, adjusting where required
  • Troubleshoot machining, programming, and tooling issues
  • Carry out in-process inspections using precision measuring tools
  • Ensure parts meet dimensional and tolerance requirements
  • Complete setup sheets, program notes, and inspection records
  • Maintain accurate program and revision control

Skills and Experience

  • Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in Engineering / CNC Machining OR strong industry experience
  • Proven experience with FANUC CNC machines
  • Experience using Fusion 360 or similar CAM software
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Experience with 4- or 5-axis machining
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 or AS9100 environments
  • Background in aerospace, automotive, defence, medical, or precision engineering
