Overview
As an Assistant Design Manager, you will support the development and coordination of M&E designs across concept to construction, working closely with Design Managers, Project Managers, and site teams. You will help drive coordinated drawings, design calculations, and technical schedules while ensuring compliance with Building Regulations and project specs. This role offers a clear progression path into Design Management within a growing M&E contractor environment. You will gain hands-on exposure to live projects and learn from an experienced Design Manager, shaping your path to leading design coordination and delivery.

Responsibilities
- Develop coordinated M&E designs
- Produce and amend mechanical and electrical drawings (CAD/BIM)
- Assist with HVAC, ventilation, heating, plumbing, drainage, lighting, power layouts
- Support design calculations, equipment selections and technical schedules
- Review drawings for clashes and design issues
- Attend design and coordination meetings
- Liaise with Project Managers, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers
- Support RFIs and technical queries
- Assist with site surveys and construction-stage design issues
- Maintain drawing standards, revisions and document control
- Ensure designs comply with project specifications and Building Regulations
Key requirements
- Experience or qualification in Building Services, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or MEP
- Good understanding of M&E building services
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings
- CAD/BIM experience
- Strong attention to detail
- Good communication and organisation
- Keen to develop into a Design Manager
