Location: Leeds/Field Based

Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated Machine Tool Service Engineer to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of CNC and conventional machine tools across our customer base. This is a field-based role requiring a proactive individual who can work independently while delivering a high standard of technical support and customer service. The successful candidate will play a key role in minimising downtime, ensuring equipment performance, and maintaining strong client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Install, commission, and test new machine tools at customer sites
  • Diagnose faults and carry out mechanical, electrical, and control system repairs
  • Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance
  • Provide technical support and guidance to customers on machine operation
  • Complete detailed service reports and maintain accurate documentation
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure efficient service delivery
  • Always adhere to health and safety standards

Skills & Experience

  • Strong fault-finding ability across mechanical and electrical systems
  • Knowledge of CNC control systems (e.g., Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Good communication and customer-facing skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Proven experience servicing CNC or conventional machine tools
  • Previous field service experience is highly desirable
  • Experience with PLC systems or programming is advantageous
  • Full UK driving licence required
  • Willingness to travel and stay overnight when necessary
