The Company
Our client is an established and growing freight forwarding business providing multimodal logistics solutions across international supply chains. Combining industry expertise with innovative technology, they help customers manage complex global logistics with efficiency, visibility, and exceptional service.
Due to continued growth within their Scottish operation, they are looking to recruit an experienced Multimodal Operator to strengthen their operations team.
The Role
Reporting to the Branch Manager, you will be responsible for managing import and export freight shipments from booking through to final delivery. You will liaise with customers, overseas agents, shipping lines, hauliers, customs authorities and internal departments to ensure freight moves efficiently while maintaining excellent customer service and compliance throughout the supply chain.

Salary: U p to £35,000
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage import and export freight shipments from booking through to final delivery.
- Coordinate with customers, overseas agents, shipping lines, hauliers and suppliers.
- Monitor shipments and proactively resolve delays or operational issues.
- Ensure customs clearance and shipping documentation is completed accurately and on time.
- Maintain accurate shipment records and milestones within CargoWise or a similar freight management system.
- Provide proactive shipment updates and deliver outstanding customer service.
- Plan and arrange UK transport and final deliveries.
- Complete job costing, invoicing and supplier cost verification.
- Ensure customer SOPs, compliance requirements and service standards are consistently met.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers and logistics partners.
Requirements:
- Previous experience within a freight forwarding environment (UK based)
- Strong understanding of import and export operations.
- Experience managing shipments from booking through to delivery.
- Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines.
- High attention to detail and commitment to operational accuracy.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience using CargoWise or another freight forwarding/TMS system.
- Knowledge of customs clearance processes and customs compliance.
