Senior Design EngineerGlasgow65,000 – 75,000 per annumA specialist manufacturer delivering advanced refrigeration, chilled water, and HVAC systems for technically demanding applications. The business designs and delivers bespoke chilled water plants, refrigeration packages, and fully integrated cooling systems, taking projects from initial concept and system design through manufacturing, testing, and commissioning. This is a senior technical position offering the opportunity to take ownership of complex refrigeration engineering projects and influence the development of high-performance cooling solutions. Key Responsibilities: Lead the design and development of refrigeration and chilled water systems from initial concept through to commissioningAct as the technical authority for thermodynamic design, component selection, system integration, and performance optimisationProduce and review calculations, P&IDs, specifications, technical documentation, and design reportsProvide engineering governance throughout the full project lifecycle and commissioningSupport sales and commercial teams with technical input for bids, proposals, customer discussions, and solution developmentWork closely with customers, suppliers, manufacturing, testing, and commissioning teams to ensure successful project deliveryMentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers within the refrigeration disciplinePackage:65,000 – 75,000 per annum25 days annual leave + Bank HolidaysPension schemeContinuous professional and technical developmentCareer progressionWhat You'll Need: Strong technical background in refrigeration system and chilled water plant designExcellent understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, refrigeration system design, and modellingExperience designing and specifying chillers, refrigeration plants, or complex cooling systemsAbility to produce and review engineering calculations, P&IDs, specifications, and technical documentationExperience working within relevant UKCA, regulatory, and engineering compliance requirementsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Refrigeration Engineering, or a closely related disciplineStrong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary projectsChartered Engineer status or progress towards chartership would be advantageousInterested in hearing more?
