An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Sea Freight professional at Supervisor level to take ownership of a high-performing, niche operation within a growing freight forwarding group. This role sits within a specialist recyclables division—a fast-moving, complex sector with significant growth plans and strong commercial backing. With a solid foundation already in place, the next phase is focused on process improvement, efficiency, and scalable growth—and this role is key to that journey.
The Opportunity
- You’ll initially work closely with senior leadership, gaining insight into the customer base, suppliers, and operational nuances of this specialist market.
- Within 3–6 months, you’ll take full ownership of the operational function, leading a team of 5 and driving performance, structure, and continuous improvement.
- This is a role for someone who wants more than “business as usual”—you’ll have the autonomy to shape how the operation runs and play a key part in supporting wider business growth.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading the day-to-day sea freight export operation within the recyclables sector
- Acting as the first point of escalation for operational and customer issues
- Supporting and developing a team of 5, including training and performance management
- Driving process improvements, efficiencies, and best practice across the team
- Working closely with commercial colleagues to support profitability and growth
- Overseeing workflow, service levels, and operational performance
- Supporting credit control and ensuring smooth resolution of supplier/customer queries
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience at Supervisor level (or ready to step up with clear leadership capability)
- Confident managing day-to-day operations and dealing with escalations
- A mindset focused on continuous improvement, efficiency, and change
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Commercial awareness and ability to work cross-functionally
- Experience with CargoWise is highly desirable
