The Role
This is a varied and hands‑on position where you’ll support the Operations Manager and wider forwarding team across operational, administrative, and commercial activities.
Full training will be provided, making this a strong opportunity for someone looking to further develop their career within freight forwarding.
Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinating international and domestic air, ocean, and road freight (imports & exports)
- Ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations and company processes
- Handling customs clearance and providing consultancy support
- Liaising with overseas clients, partners, and agents
- Completing shipping documentation (airwaybills, bills of lading, CMR notes)
- Managing GRNs and coding purchase invoices
- Preparing sales invoices and maintaining accurate e‑filing systems
- Supporting supplier negotiations to ensure value for money and service quality
- Assisting with month‑end financial processes
- Maintaining high standards of health & safety and compliance
Performance Measures
Success in this role will be measured through:
- Accuracy of bookings, quotations, billing, and conversions
- Effective job control delivered on time and within budget
- High‑quality client communication and job tracking
- Adherence to HMRC regulations, Incoterms, and internal processes
- Positive feedback from clients and internal teams
About You
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in freight forwarding or airline handling operations
- Knowledge of HMRC systems and customs processes
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Competent with Microsoft Office
- Commercial awareness and attention to detail
