Overview
As European Road Freight BDM, you drive new business across key European lanes with a focus on Italy and Spain for a growing Italian-owned freight forwarder. You’ll work with UK and European operations to offer road freight solutions to retail and fashion clients, shaping growth in European trade. You will manage the full sales cycle, from prospecting to onboarding, and collaborate cross-functionally to win and retain customers. This role offers the chance to influence expansion across Europe with a commercial, customer-focused approach.

Responsibilities
- Generate new business opportunities through prospecting, networking, and client visits
- Develop long-term relationships with importers, exporters, retailers and fashion brands
- Sell European groupage, part-load and full-load road freight solutions
- Focus on Italy and Spain trade lanes
- Prepare competitive quotations and commercial proposals
- Negotiate rates and service agreements
- Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation through account implementation
- Collaborate with operations to ensure smooth onboarding
- Achieve and exceed sales targets
Key requirements
- Previous experience in a Road Freight Business Development or Freight Forwarding Sales role
- Strong knowledge of European road freight services
- Experience selling freight solutions on the Italian and/or Spanish trade lanes would be highly advantageous
- Existing network of contacts within the retail and fashion sectors preferred
- Proven track record of winning new business
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
