Our client is seeking an experienced and highly organised Transport Operator to join their busy transport team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a strong understanding of UK transport operations.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the efficient coordination of drivers, customer deliveries, and port operations while maintaining exceptional service levels.

Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage multiple drivers on a daily basis.
- Communicate effectively with ports to ensure smooth transport operations.
- Book delivery and collection slots for port entries and arrivals.
- Use the TOPS transport management system to record driver start and finish times accurately.
- Monitor driver progress, obtaining ETAs and ensuring deliveries are completed on schedule.
- Re-route jobs and adjust schedules as operational requirements dictate.
- Ensure all Proof of Delivery (POD) documentation is accurately matched to the relevant jobs within the system.
- Liaise with customers regarding potential delays and provide accurate delivery updates and revised ETAs.
- Support the wider transport team in maintaining efficient and compliant transport operations.
- Respond quickly and effectively to operational issues as they arise.
- Candidate Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must possess
- Previous experience working as a Transport Operator (essential).
Experience in containers (essential)
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent knowledge of UK geography and transport routes.
- The ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions under pressure.
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
- A flexible approach to working hours and business requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when working with transport documentation and systems.
