An established freight forwarding and logistics business is looking to recruit an experienced Customs Brokerage Supervisor to lead its customs operations team in Feltham. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced customs professional who is ready to take greater responsibility for team performance, compliance and the smooth delivery of import and export customs clearances.
The Role
As Customs Brokerage Supervisor, you will oversee the day-to-day performance of the customs brokerage team, ensuring declarations are completed accurately, efficiently and in line with current customs regulations. You will support and develop team members, manage workloads, resolve complex customs queries and act as a senior point of contact for internal departments, customers and relevant authorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the daily activities of the customs brokerage team
- Allocate workloads and ensure customs entries are completed within agreed deadlines
- Oversee import and export customs declarations
- Ensure compliance with HMRC requirements and internal procedures
- Review customs documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Support the team with complex entries, classifications and customs-related queries
- Monitor team performance, productivity and service levels
- Provide coaching, training and ongoing support to customs team members
- Liaise with customers, freight operations teams, carriers and government authorities
- Identify process improvements and support the development of more efficient customs procedures
- Assist with customs audits, reporting and compliance reviews
- Escalate potential compliance issues and ensure corrective action is taken
Requirements
- Strong experience within customs brokerage or customs clearance
- Previous supervisory, team leadership or senior customs experience
- Good knowledge of UK import and export customs procedures
- Experience completing and reviewing customs declarations
- Understanding of commodity codes, customs valuation, rules of origin and duty calculations
- Knowledge of CDS and relevant customs systems
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to regulatory compliance
- Confident communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage workloads and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience coaching or developing team members would be advantageous

- Salary up to £45,000 per annum
