We’re working with a well‑established and growing transport and logistics business in Purfleet, looking to appoint an experienced Container Transport Planner to join their operations team.
The Role
- You’ll be responsible for planning and coordinating container movements across the UK, ensuring maximum efficiency, service levels, and cost control.
- Planning and managing the daily operations of 20+ HGV trucks.
- Coordinating container collections and deliveries to and from ports.
- Optimising routes to maximise efficiency and minimise empty running.
- Liaising with drivers, customers, and port operations teams.
- Managing changes, delays, and operational challenges in real time.
- Ensuring compliance with driver hours, transport regulations, and company procedures.
- Maintaining accurate planning records and system updates.
- Delivering high levels of customer service at all times.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in container transport planning.
- Ability to independently manage 20+ trucks in a busy operation.
- Strong working knowledge of TOPS (Traffic Office Processing System).
- Booking and managing deliveries via VBS (Vehicle Booking Systems).
- Excellent organisational and problem‑solving skills.
- Confident communicator with the ability to manage drivers and stakeholders.
- Ability to remain calm and make decisions under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness.
