Our client is a growing logistics and freight forwarder specialising in temperature-controlled supply chains and perishable logistics. With a strong international position within the fruit and fresh produce supply chain, the business is expanding its operations across the United Kingdom and Europe.
As an experienced customs specialist, you will be responsible for managing UK customs processes across the perishable supply chain, ensuring the correct, efficient, and compliant handling of import and export shipments, particularly within the fruit and fresh produce sector. This role requires someone who can hit the ground running, work collaboratively with operations teams, and bring valuable knowledge and ideas to support the wider logistics operation.
Location: Bromsgrove, B60
Hours: 9:00-17:00 Monday to Friday (office based)
Salary: GBP29000 - GBP35000 per annum
Responsibilities:
- Independently handle import and export customs clearances
- Complete customs declarations using Custrans software (training provided)
- Manage sea freight import customs processes and support export entries where required
- Prepare, review and submit customs documentation and declarations
- Ensure full compliance with UK and international customs regulations
- Coordinate logistics activities within the perishable supply chain
- Liaise with internal operations teams, freight partners, clients and regulatory authorities
- Maintain communication with customs authorities, logistics partners and customers
- Contribute ideas and operational improvements to enhance efficiency across the business
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in customs clearance
- Exposure to export shipments
- Previous background within freight forwarding
- Operational logistics experience is beneficial
- Experience working with DEFRA and IPAFFS
- Experience within perishable logistics or fresh produce supply chains is highly desirable
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple shipments
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive approach
- Comfortable helping establish new processes and operational structures
