My client is seeking a Senior Laboratory Chemist to join their team in Birmingham, taking a leading role in the analysis and classification of hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams, providing technical expertise to operational teams, and supporting laboratory quality, safety, and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform chemical and physical analysis of hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams, interpreting results to support waste management decisions.
- Provide technical guidance on analytical methods, waste acceptance, chemical compatibility, and complex waste streams.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards through risk assessment and continuous improvement activities.
- Communicate analytical findings and recommendations to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Support laboratory operations through equipment maintenance, quality control, and the training of junior staff.
Qualifications:
- Degree, HND/HNC, or equivalent experience in Chemistry, Analytical Science, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Strong laboratory experience in chemistry, environmental testing, waste management, or a similar industry.
- Knowledge of analytical techniques, laboratory instrumentation, and wet chemistry methods.
- Understanding of waste classification, environmental legislation, and health & safety requirements (WM3 and ADR knowledge desirable).
- Ability to interpret analytical data, communicate technical findings, and support safe, efficient laboratory operations.
- Must be based in the UK and have full settled status or citizenship. Unfortunately, sponsorship cannot be provided for this role.
