We are looking for a skilled Control Systems Engineer to design, develop, implement, and support control systems for industrial and process-based applications. The role will involve working across the full project lifecycle, from initial concept and design through to commissioning and ongoing system support.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain control systems for industrial automation projects
  • Produce and modify PLC, HMI, and SCADA software in line with project requirements
  • Develop functional design specifications, control philosophies, and documentation
  • Configure and integrate instrumentation, sensors, drives, and field devices
  • Carry out system testing, FAT and SAT activities, and support commissioning on site
  • Diagnose and resolve control system faults, providing technical support to operations
  • Ensure all control systems comply with relevant safety standards, legislation, and best practices
  • Work closely with electrical, mechanical, and process engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions
  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to support project delivery

Skills and experience

  • Proven experience as a Control Systems Engineer within an industrial or automation environment
  • Strong knowledge of PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, Mitsubishi)
  • Experience with HMI and SCADA systems (WinCC, FactoryTalk)
  • Understanding of Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, Modbus
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and control schematics
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with variable speed drives and servo systems
