Senior Transport Operations ManagerBognor Regis
This is a key senior role within a fast‑paced operation, working closely with the Transport Manager to oversee day‑to‑day transport activity while helping to improve systems, processes and operational efficiency as the business continues to grow.
The Role:
You will be responsible for supporting the management of a busy operation
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and supporting a team of drivers
- Managing day‑to‑day transport operations and resolving issues as they arise
- Ensuring compliance with drivers’ hours, tachographs, Operator Licence requirements and transport legislation
- Overseeing health & safety, incident investigations and risk assessments
- Managing agency drivers and subcontractors
- Monitoring vehicle, driver and operational performance
- Supporting the Transport Manager and providing cover when required
- Improving processes and introducing more efficient ways of working
- Supporting the implementation of new transport systems, technology and automation
- Using KPIs and operational data to identify opportunities for improvement
- Participating in an out-of-hours and weekend on-call rota
About You:
We are looking for an experienced transport professional with a strong background in road haulage, fleet operations or transport management. A real opportunity to grow and shape the operation.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Transport Manager, Operations Manager, Traffic Manager or similar
- Transport Manager CPC – National & International
- Strong knowledge of Operator Licence requirements and UK transport legislation
- Experience managing drivers within a busy transport operation
- Knowledge of drivers’ hours, tachographs and WTD
- Strong health & safety and compliance knowledge
- Experience managing subcontractors and agency drivers
- A hands‑on, calm and solutions‑focused approach
- Experience improving processes, systems or transport operations
Experience within specialist, time‑critical, events or complex transport operations would be an advantage.
