About the Role
We are seeking a Head of Fleet to lead vehicle and trailer operations, driving fleet strategy, compliance, sustainability, and cost efficiency. This senior hands-on role will oversee maintenance, supplier performance, and continuous improvement across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver the fleet strategy to support business growth
- Drive the transition to electric and alternative-fuel vehicles
- Oversee vehicle and trailer maintenance, ensuring safety and compliance
- Manage total cost across the fleet
- Monitor performance and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising service
- Build strong relationships with OEMs and maintenance suppliers
- Use telematics and fleet systems to analyse performance and drive improvements
- Lead projects, implement policies, and maintain fleet documentation
- Develop and manage the fleet team, including performance reviews and coaching
Requirements
Essential
- HGV Repair & Maintenance qualification
- Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation, compliance, and safety standards
- Commercial and financial awareness
- Understanding of alternative vehicle technologies
- Experience delivering strategic plans and budgets
- Proven leadership and team engagement skills
- Willingness to travel, including overnight stays
