Field Service Engineer

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Service Engineer to join a specialist engineering business operating within laser micromachining and precision laser processing.

You will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, servicing, maintenance and fault finding of specialist laser micromachining systems, supporting customers across the UK and internationally.

This is a highly technical field-based role, ideal for an engineer with previous experience working on laser micromachining equipment, precision laser systems or similarly complex capital machinery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and commission laser micromachining systems at customer sites.
  • Carry out planned servicing and preventative maintenance.
  • Diagnose and rectify electrical, mechanical and control-system faults.
  • Fault-find across laser systems, motion control, PLCs, drives and associated equipment.
  • Carry out machine modifications, upgrades and repairs.
  • Calibrate and optimise equipment to required operating specifications.
  • Read and interpret electrical, mechanical and technical drawings.
  • Provide technical support and training to customers.
  • Complete detailed service reports and documentation.
  • Work closely with internal engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Undertake regular UK and international travel for installations, commissioning and service work.

Previous Experience

  • Background in laser micromachining or precision laser processing.
  • Experience servicing complex, high-precision laser equipment is highly desirable.
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Willingness to undertake regular international travel
