The Role
As Freight Forwarding Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for generating new freight forwarding business across Heathrow, Greater London and the surrounding region. You will have the freedom to manage your own diary and sales activity, allowing you to plan your week around customers and commercial opportunities. You will be supported by experienced operational teams, strong international networks and excellent global buying power. The position will primarily focus on winning new air and ocean freight business, while identifying additional opportunities across the company's wider logistics services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and secure profitable new freight forwarding customers
- Develop a strong pipeline of air and ocean freight opportunities
- Arrange and attend customer meetings
- Produce commercial proposals and negotiate new business agreements
- Build long-term relationships with key decision-makers
- Work closely with operational and pricing teams to create competitive solutions
- Manage your own diary, appointments and sales strategy
- Maintain accurate sales activity and pipeline information
- Achieve agreed revenue and gross-profit targets
- Represent the business professionally at meetings and industry events
Essential Experience:
- Proven freight forwarding business development or sales experience is essential
- A strong track record of winning new air freight and/or ocean freight business
- Strong knowledge of the freight forwarding market
- Confidence generating your own leads and developing new customer relationships
- Strong commercial, negotiation and presentation skills
- The ability to work independently and manage your own diary effectively
- A full UK driving licence
