Role: CNC Quality Inspector

Location: Clevedon

Salary: Up to £50,000 depending on experience

My client is looking for an experienced CNC Quality inspector to join their precision engineering team based in Clevedon.

This is a hands-on inspection role working within a high precision manufacturing environment, inspecting components produced using CNC machining and grinding processes. You’ll be responsible for ensuring components meet drawing, specification and quality requirements, working closely with production and engineering teams to maintain consistently high standards.

Responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out first-off, in-process and final inspection of precision-engineered components.
  • Inspecting components against engineering drawings, specifications and customer requirements.
  • Using a range of manual inspection and measurement equipment to verify component dimensions and tolerances.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, including GD&T and geometric tolerances.
  • Carrying out dimensional checks on components manufactured using CNC turning, milling and grinding processes.
  • Identifying non-conforming components and supporting investigations into the cause of quality issues.
  • Recording inspection results accurately and maintaining quality documentation.
  • Working closely with CNC machinists, engineers and production teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Supporting continuous improvement and helping to reduce scrap, rework and production issues.
  • Ensuring inspection equipment is correctly used and maintained.
  • Supporting the wider quality team with day-to-day inspection and quality activities.

Skills and experience:

  • Previous experience working as a Quality Inspector, Mechanical Inspector or Engineering Inspector.
  • Experience inspecting CNC machined components.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Good understanding of GD&T and tight engineering tolerances.
  • Experience using equipment such as:
    • Verniers and micrometers
    • Height gauges
    • Bore gauges
    • Dial indicators
    • Gauging equipment
    • Surface measurement equipment
    • CMMs would be advantageous
  • Experience working to tight tolerances and high-quality standards.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing and machining processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to inspection.
  • Good communication skills and the confidence to challenge quality issues when required.
  • A relevant engineering or inspection qualification would be advantageous.
