Junior Sous Chef – The Randolph, Oxford

At The Randolph, Oxford’s most iconic hotel, our restaurants, bars, and event spaces deliver fresh, seasonal dishes to guests from breakfast through to late-night dining. We’re now looking for an ambitious Junior Sous Chef to support the senior kitchen team, step up during busy services, and help train and inspire the brigade. What Will You Be Doing?

  • Supporting the Sous Chef and Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
  • Leading sections during busy services with confidence and efficiency.
  • Training, mentoring, and motivating junior chefs and commis chefs.
  • Helping with menu development, daily specials, and seasonal changes.
  • Managing prep, stock, and ordering to minimise waste and support cost control.
  • Ensuring food safety, hygiene, and compliance standards are always maintained.
  • Stepping up to lead the kitchen in the absence of senior chefs.

What Do You Need?

  • Previous experience as a strong Chef de Partie or Junior Sous in a quality-led kitchen.
  • Excellent cooking skills with attention to detail and presentation.
  • Strong leadership qualities with the ability to manage a section and lead a team.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, food safety, and kitchen compliance standards.
  • A passion for hospitality, seasonal food, and mentoring others.
  • A calm, professional approach under pressure.
