We are looking for a Business Development Manager to join our corporate lending team. As a BDM you will contribute to developing, building and managing the corporate lending activity for WOCFE and achieve targeted levels of profitability, return on capital and origination.
You will lead the origination, structuring and execution of complex UK and cross-border lending transactions across the core product set which includes both asset-based and cash flow lending solutions. Achieving a high level of credit quality and operate a rigorous standards of risk management, including operational and reputational as well as credit risk.
- Origination: To actively develop and manage relationships with a variety of stakeholders – both through KPIs and management teams, as well as internally. Originate business in the ABL market, including participation in client and debt advisor meetings, preparation of pitches and attendance at market events and conferences.
- Deal execution: To propose, negotiate and execute complex lending facilities in the Corporate market, to support a variety of proposals from refinance and growth capital to acquisitions and MBOs of UK and European companies. Analysis of the business and financial performance of prospective clients, ensuring debt structures are appropriate to meet their needs. Identify, minimise and mitigate risks. Lead the end to end credit process including: due diligence review, financial modelling, credit papers, presentation to credit, client negotiation and completion of legal documentation.
- Deal management: To lead and support corporate lending transactions. Relate effectively to the other parts of the business relevant to any given transaction i.e. investment committee, UK credit underwriting, operations, portfolio and finance.
- Risk management: To effectively assess, prepare and present cases for credit submission, including financial analysis / modelling and clearly articulating deal dynamics and key risks/mitigates of each transaction. Operating at all times within the defined risk boundaries from both deal and compliance perspective, displaying a proactive attitude to managing risk.
Core Skills and Knowledge:
- University degree or a minimum of three years industry related experience
- Strong working knowledge of ABL products/services and offerings
- Demonstrate a strong network of relationships in the debt advisory, corporate finance, private equity, restructuring and accountancy firms at senior level.
- MS products competency
- Strong financial analysis skills
