An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Jigs & Fixtures Design Engineer to take ownership of jig, fixture, and stillage design for new product introductions. This role demands a deep understanding of fabrication and welding processes, particularly in environments utilising robotic welding. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with design, production, and quality teams to ensure that all tooling solutions are robust, efficient, and aligned with manufacturing objectives.

  • Lead the design and development of jigs, fixtures, and stillages to support production.
  • Ensure all designs comply with Design for Manufacture (DFM) standards.
  • Provide technical support and resolve jig and fixture-related issues across multiple sites.
  • Create precise 3D models and detailed engineering drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Travel to manufacturing sites as required to oversee implementation and address operational needs.

Strong expertise in fabrication and welding, including the application of weld symbols. Proven track record in jig and fixture design, ideally incorporating robotic welding considerations. Comprehensive understanding of component positioning within fixtures to optimise welding access, particularly for automated systems. Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D CAD and the production of engineering drawings. Flexibility to travel between operational sites. Experience with SolidWorks PDM. Knowledge of Poka-Yoke principles in fixture design. Minimum of 5 GCSEs, including English and Maths at grade B or above (or equivalent professional experience). Ability to demonstrate advanced competence in SolidWorks during the interview process.
