An exciting opportunity has recently arisen with one of my manufacturing clients based close to Darwen. The company has been going for over 40 years and now turns over £55-60 million, with a staff base of nearly 400. The company is seeking a Design Engineer to support the engineering team. This is an exciting role, with a lot of variety due to every product being bespoke to each customer.

You will be responsible for managing the engineering project from concept to manufacture and will be involved in new product development. Reporting to the Technical Manager, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and manufacturing a full range of products for customers.
  • Ensuring all products designed are fit for purpose and comply with the latest regulations.
  • Working with sales, purchasing, sub-contractors, and production departments to deliver high-quality engineered products.
  • Successfully delivering all design projects allocated.
  • Supporting sales with new designs and customer quote drawings.
  • Looking for continuous improvement on product design methods and production procedures.
  • Maintaining a proactive attitude to problem solving and solutions.
  • Ensuring adherence to all company policies and prevailing business regulations.

Essential Requirements:

  • Must be computer literate with 3D CAD experience - ideally Autodesk Inventor.
  • Degree qualified or HNC/HND in mechanical engineering.
  • Preferably some experience of sheet metal/fabrication.
  • Experience of designing for complex assembly.
  • Must have rights to work in the UK; unfortunately, my client is unable to offer sponsorship at this time.

The company is offering £35-42k depending on the experience of the individual and will consider candidates with 1-2+ years upwards. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a large and growing business, with very long-term standing staff due to a progressive and positive working environment. The role is extremely varied and interesting, including a lot of NPD work. If this is of interest to you, please apply immediately, or should you require further information, please contact Ruth Llewellyn at White Label Recruitment.
