Are you an Applications Engineer or Technical Sales Engineer looking for a role where you can combine your technical knowledge with customer interaction and commercial engineering? We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established engineering business that delivers bespoke engineering solutions to the food manufacturing and process industries across the UK. Working on projects ranging from £100,000 to multi-million-pound installations, you'll play a key role in developing technical solutions for a wide range of customers. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business where no two projects are the same, working closely with customers, sales and engineering teams from initial enquiry through to project handover.
The Role
As Technical Sales Engineer / Applications Engineer, you'll be responsible for producing technical proposals, preparing project costings and supporting the sales team with bespoke engineering solutions. Projects include production line equipment, material handling systems and process machinery within the food manufacturing sector.
Responsibilities
- Produce technical and commercial proposals
- Prepare accurate quotations and project costings
- Produce and modify equipment layouts using SolidWorks or AutoCAD
- Review customer requirements and develop bespoke engineering solutions
- Provide technical support throughout the sales process
- Attend customer sites for surveys and technical meetings when required
- Liaise with Engineering, Procurement and Project Management teams to ensure successful project delivery
About You
We're keen to hear from candidates currently working as an: Applications Engineer, Technical Sales Engineer, Proposals Engineer, Proposal Engineer, Technical Support Engineer, Quotation Engineer, Estimating Engineer, Commercial Engineer, Design Engineer or Project Engineer with Commercial Experience. You'll ideally have experience within one or more of the following industries: Food Manufacturing, Food Processing, FMCG, Packaging Machinery, Conveyor Systems, Material Handling, Process Machinery, Special Purpose Machinery, Automation, Capital Equipment.
Requirements
- Experience using SolidWorks or AutoCAD (essential)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Experience producing technical quotations, proposals or costings
- Strong communication and customer-facing skills
- Commercial awareness with excellent attention to detail
- Full UK driving licence
