A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing business based in East Yorkshire due to continued growth and increased demand. This role would suit someone who enjoys a varied position where you will be involved in both design engineering and hands-on production support. You will play a key role in developing structural and mounting solutions whilst working closely with the shop floor and wider engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
- Designing and developing structural mounting solutions, brackets, fixings, and integration systems for vehicle-based products
- Creating manufacturable sheet metal, steel, and aluminium designs using 3D CAD software
- Supporting production teams by resolving assembly and fitment issues on the shop floor
- Improving existing designs to simplify manufacturing and reduce assembly time
- Producing technical drawings, assembly documentation, and installation instructions
- Developing prototype solutions and validating fitment prior to full production release
- Working closely with production and engineering teams to continuously improve products and processes
- Taking concepts and turning them into practical engineering solutions suitable for manufacture
The Person
- The ideal candidate will have experience within vehicle conversion design, automotive, caravans, motorhomes, specialist vehicles, or similar industries
- Comfortable wearing many hats within engineering, from technical design through to hands-on problem solving
- Experience designing fabricated components, mounting systems, structural parts, or sheet metal assemblies
- Strong understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes
- Experience using 3D CAD software
- Comfortable working closely with production teams and supporting builds when required
- Ability to work using own initiative whilst also collaborating well within a team environment
Salary & Benefits
- Salary up to £42,000 depending on experience
- Monday - Thursday: 7:30am - 4:30pm | Friday: 7:30am - 12:30pm
- 23 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays
- Holiday allowance increases with years of service
