Structural Engineer in Sunderland

The company specialises in bulk material handling and plant processing markets, offering services across sectors such as mining, tunnelling, quarrying, oil & gas, and more.\\nWe are recruiting for a Structural Engineer and Structrual Manager to be an integral part of the team: This role can will be based in either Sunderland OR Chorley depending on the distance of the individual (TBD)\\nBenefits\\n * Competitive salary £40k – £70k DOE\\n * 25 days holiday plus bank holidays – ops to buy more holidays\\n * Contribution towards eye test and glasses\\n * Online company discount benefits site including cinema tickets and gym membership discount\\n * Long Service Awards\\n * Employee recognition scheme\\n * Employee Assistance Programme\\n * Flexible Benefits Package\\n * 37 hours per week with a 1pm finish on a Friday\\n * Hybrid working opportunities\\nYour Key Responsibilities\\n * Review project specifications and confirm scope of supply (including anticipated cost/ programme and the impact into the project team.\\n * Prepare Civil/ Structural Basis of Design summary prior to commencing engineering works.\\n * Produce analysis models to validate civil/ structural configurations, and to generate foundation loads.\\n * Ensure analytical models are transferring loads as expected, and that axial forces and moments are fixed/ released as stability (& connection design) demand.\\n * Produce hand calculations to validate connection design.\\n * Effectively communicate design requirements to the design team.\\n * Check Civil/ Structural drawing output (as required) to ensure that the information within reflects analytical models and calculations.\\n * Prepare Civil/ Structural calculation reports for inclusion into the project technical file.\\n * Support CAT 2/ CAT 3 checking requirements with any supplementary information as required.\\n * Attend sites as required, to conduct site and/ or condition surveys, and prepare reports on findings thereafter.\\n * Attend project design/ model reviews as required, supporting interfacing and tolerancing where applicable.\\n * Update Project Engineer and Head of Civil/ Structural on progress against task on a weekly basis, Highlighting any blockers or foreseen issues as/ when they become evident.\\n * Responsible for identifying any (internal/ external) changes to civil/ structural scope and escalating to the Project Engineer to capture via the DCN process.\\n * Deliver works in alignment with the business’ ISO 9001 processes and templates as controlled within the Quality Management System (COS).\\n * Identification, and escalation, of all civil/ structural Technical Queries (TQ) that occur on the project.\\nSkills, Knowledge and Expertise\\nMinimum BEng (Hons) in Engineering (preferably Civil or Structural Engineering).\\nExperience in a Civil/ Structural engineering field.\\nKnowledge of the construction & process industries and applicable standards.\\nAbility to use structural analytical software unaided – STAAD Pro or TEKLA Structures.\\nUnderstanding of load cases and combinations, and able to deduce structures are behaving as intended through calculation or analysis.\\nExperience of good time management in a project delivery environment.\\nStrong attention to detail and committed to quality performance/ output.\\nStrong communicator with internal and external customers alike, with good presentation skills.\\nChartered Engineer (CEng, preferably ICE or IStructE) – For Manager role\\nIf this sounds like something you’d be interested in, please apply
