If you're a Projects or Engineering leader who's outgrown your current ceiling and wants genuine ownership of delivery, this is worth a proper look. My client is a well-respected engineering consultancy with a loyal client base, repeat business, and a reputation built over years of doing the job properly. They now need someone to lead the operational team that makes it all happen.

This is a Director-level role with real weight behind it. Full P&L accountability, a team of engineers and project managers reporting to you, and a direct line into the Managing Director and Leadership Team. You'll shape how projects get delivered across the business, not just manage what's already on the table.

Why this one stands out:

  • Salary up to £100k, plus a £8,226 car allowance and 10% employer pension, no negotiation games
  • A genuine Director title with P&L and budget ownership, not a manager role dressed up
  • Backed by a business with an excellent reputation and repeat clients across most industrial sectors
  • Personalised coaching, mentoring and twice-yearly reviews, so your development doesn't stall once you're in the chair
  • A benefits package that goes well beyond the basics

The business delivers engineering services across a range of industrial sectors, with a team of managers, senior engineers, engineers and designers who've worked construction projects and operating facilities first hand. The reputation speaks for itself: strong client relationships, a track record of repeat business, and a project management system that's robust enough to keep delivering safe, efficient, compliant capital projects across a diverse client base.

The role:

As Project Delivery Director, you'll lead the operational delivery team and take ownership of getting projects over the line safely, on time, to scope and to margin. You'll build the delivery strategy, cut lead times, sharpen quality and accuracy, and drive costs down without ever compromising on safety or scope. In short: you set the standard, and the team delivers against it.

What you'll own:

  • Day to day delivery of all awarded work across the project portfolio
  • Line management of the projects and engineering delivery teams
  • Weekly and monthly reporting to the Managing Director and Leadership Team, covering safety, cost, progress, scope, quality, opportunity and risk
  • Governance and reporting of deliverable performance, OTD, resource recoveries, load forecasting, schedule and cost adherence
  • Spotting issues early and bringing solutions, not just problems, to Leadership Team reviews
  • Budget control across cost centres, working closely with the Financial Controller to manage risk
  • Full project lifecycle ownership, from handover through to signoff, with lessons learned and KPIs reported back
  • Driving continuous improvement in how projects are delivered, year on year

What you'll bring:

  • A degree in an engineering or business discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Significant leadership experience, with a strong track record of managing teams
  • A senior background in Engineering or Projects leadership
  • Solid experience of P&L management and running budgets across cost centres
  • The ability to mentor and lead management teams, not just manage tasks
  • Working knowledge of the AACE International Estimate Classification System, Class 5 to Class 1
  • Experience in heavy engineering, covering studies, FEEDs and general engineering consulting

What's in it for you:

  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, with the option to buy or sell up to 5 days
  • Group Life Assurance at 2x salary, enhanceable up to 16x
  • Group Income Protection at 50% salary, enhanceable up to 60%, 70% or 75%
  • Group Personal Accident cover, with self, partner and family options
  • Private Medical Insurance, self only as standard, with the option to add partner or family
  • Critical illness, partner critical illness and spouse/partner life cover available
  • Dental care plan, wills, and non-business travel insurance, all voluntary options
  • Cycle to Work scheme up to £4,000, including electric bikes
  • Technology scheme up to £2,000
  • Contribution towards eye tests and glasses
  • Onsite parking
  • Long Service Awards and an employee recognition scheme
  • Employee Assistance Programme and a wider flexible benefits package, including salary sacrifice pension top-up options
  • Online discounts site covering cinema tickets, gym membership and more
