White Label is partnered with a long-established machinery manufacturer in Huddersfield that require a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. This is a hands-on, senior-level position within a growing team. You’ll play a lead role in project delivery, mentor junior team members, and help drive design improvements across bespoke machinery projects. My client is offering a salary in the region of £45,000 - £50,000 plus:
- 33 days holiday (including bank holidays)

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
- Lead the design and development of bespoke machinery, interpreting customer requirements and translating concepts into detailed 2D/3D CAD models.
- Deliver complete manufacturing drawing packs, ensuring designs are optimised for production and assembly.
- Release and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BoMs) through the MRP system, working closely with Procurement and Production.
- Act as a key technical point of contact across engineering, production, and sales, supporting internal teams with design input and guidance.
- Provide day-to-day support and mentoring to junior design engineers.
- Take ownership of design standards, processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to NPI and R&D projects, supporting the company’s drive into new markets and product diversification.
- Attend design reviews, customer meetings and occasionally support commissioning where needed.
Experience required of the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
- Minimum of 10 years’ mechanical design experience.
- Strong 3D CAD capability - Inventor preferred, but other packages will be considered.
- Experience in designing bespoke machinery would be advantageous.
- Solid understanding of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing methods.
- HNC or higher in Mechanical Engineering (or similar).
- Able to take the lead on projects and support the wider team with technical direction.
- Clear communicator with a proactive, problem-solving approach.
