Senior Draughtsperson – Overhead Line Design Location: North Yorkshire (Hybrid – 2 days WFH) Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 + Benefits About the Business This is a well-established engineering consultancy with over 20 years’ experience delivering projects across the UK electricity networks sector. With a specialist team of nearly 50 staff, they partner with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and contractors nationwide. Their expertise covers design, engineering, surveying, and innovation projects for both transmission and distribution networks. The Role We are seeking an experienced Senior Draughtsperson to join an established design team. Reporting into the Design Manager, you’ll lead on the preparation of complex design drawings, provide technical oversight for draughting projects, and mentor junior team members. Your responsibilities will include: * Producing and reviewing detailed CAD drawings for overhead power line and associated structural projects. * Leading design work for refurbishment schemes, non-standard projects, and innovation programmes with major UK DNOs. * Checking drawings to ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and project specifications. * Supporting engineers and project managers with technical input throughout project delivery. * Guiding draughtspersons within the 14-strong design team, fostering best practice and technical development. The Person * 5+ years’ experience in draughting/design, ideally within utilities, construction, or structural steel detailing. * Strong CAD skills, with advanced proficiency in MicroStation or Tekla (AutoCAD experience also valued). * A background in steelwork detailing or parametric modelling. * Excellent attention to detail and ability to interpret complex engineering drawings. * Leadership qualities with experience supervising or mentoring others would be desirable * Experience gained with large contractors (e.g. Balfour Beatty, Vinci, Morrison, Wood Group, etc) would be advantageous.
