A well-established manufacturer of industrial machinery is seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to join its engineering leadership team based in North Manchester. This is a key role, reporting to the Head of Engineering & Operations, with responsibility for leading and improving all electrical engineering activities across a diverse range of machinery projects.
The Role
You will act as the internal authority on electrical and control systems, ensuring all projects are delivered to the highest standards of compliance, performance and efficiency. You will bridge electrical design, controls integration, installation and commissioning – driving consistency, cost control and technical innovation across the product range.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Delivery & Technical Oversight
- Define and approve electrical design scopes and interface documentation
- Review and validate control panel designs, schematics and layouts
- Provide technical leadership from concept through to FAT, SAT and commissioning
- Coordinate with mechanical design teams and external control system partners
- Deliver or oversee factory and site acceptance testing
- Support commissioning and customer training on site
- Ensure compliance with EN60204, UKCA/CE and machinery directive requirements
- Lead or support risk assessments and functional safety reviews
- Maintain accurate and complete technical documentation
- Promote best practice across electrical design and installation
- Develop standard electrical designs and preferred component libraries
- Improve reliability, modularity and build efficiency
- Introduce modern technologies including condition monitoring and energy efficiency solutions
- Support integration of digital reporting, remote monitoring and predictive maintenance features
- Explore Industry 4.0 and industrial IoT applications
About You
- Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical, Control or Automation Engineering
- Proven experience within industrial automation, machinery or control systems (Siemens platforms advantageous)
- Strong knowledge of EN60204, UKCA/CE conformity and functional safety
- Ability to interpret and produce electrical schematics and control documentation
- Experience managing suppliers, coordinating projects and controlling costs
- Proficient with MS Office 365 and AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN
- Organised, analytical and proactive with a hands-on approach
