Design Engineer – Bespoke Projects | North Yorkshire | Up to £45,000 Are you a creative yet technically-minded Designer who enjoys seeing your ideas come to life? If you\’re confident in SolidWorks and have a passion for turning design briefs into beautiful, one-of-a-kind finished products, this could be right up your street. The Company This specialist design and manufacturing business punches well above its weight, operating with a close-knit team of around 20 staff. They’re known for producing high-end, fully bespoke projects. Everything is designed and made in-house with no standard products, templates, or kits. Thanks to a surge in project enquiries and a healthy order book, they’re now looking for a new Design Engineer to join the team and take the lead on their own projects. The Role You\’ll work on one project at a time, owning it from concept to completion. That includes early client conversations, concept sketching, 3D modelling in SolidWorks, creating drawing packs for production, and liaising with the in-house workshop team. If you\’re someone who enjoys managing the whole lifecycle of a job—this role gives you full ownership and the satisfaction that comes with it. Typical day-to-day might involve: * Developing bespoke concepts using SolidWorks (3+ years’ experience essential) * Manage the projects at all stages throughout the design process; on time and within budget * Attending weekly or bi-weekly project meetings to manage priorities * Preparing drawing packs, BOMs, and technical info for manufacturing * Working closely with artisans and fabricators across wood, metal, and other materials * Balancing creativity with commercial awareness to ensure projects stay profitable What You\’ll Need * 3+ years\’ experience in SolidWorks (Essential) * A background in furniture, product, or architectural metalwork design is ideal * Strong visual and technical design skills, with the ability to manage time and deadlines * A positive attitude and willingness to learn and get stuck in What You\’ll Get * Salary: Up to £45,000 (depending on experience) * Working hours: 8:00–17:00 Mon–Thurs, 8:00–15:30 Fri (38.75 hrs/week) * Working Hours: * Monday – Thursday – 8:00 am – 5:00pm * Friday – 8 am – 3:30 pm * Working hours are flexible * Electric Company Car Scheme * Holidays: 23 days plus bank holidays * Long-term flexibility: Up to 50% remote work after 2 years’ service * Extra perks: Team socials, training courses (including SolidWorks certification), EV charging, fruit baskets, and more Why Join?
