A leading provider of high-performance welded products is seeking a Planning and Purchasing Manager to optimise production scheduling, enhance procurement processes, and ensure the timely delivery of materials. This role plays a pivotal part in the company’s operational efficiency and long-term success as the business enters its next phase of growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Convert the order book into production plans across key manufacturing areas.
- Ensure the planning system is up-to-date, and communicate any changes to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal teams (sales, contracts, production) to manage timelines and expectations.
- Own and balance the order book while aligning with operational capacity.
- Manage purchasing activities for raw materials and consumables.
- Work with the stores team to maintain inventory and procurement.
- Negotiate pricing for major components and complex parts.
- Ensure timely delivery of all ordered materials to support the production schedule.
- Serve as the primary contact for customer inquiries related to order delivery and status.
- Manage communication and adjustments to delivery schedules.
Essential Requirements:
- Hands-on operational leadership experience in manufacturing, ideally in fabrication or steel-related industries.
- Proven experience managing production schedules and procurement.
- Strong understanding of capacity planning with the ability to address delivery performance issues.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with internal teams and external suppliers.
Desirable Experience:
- Background in manufacturing with exposure to both planning and purchasing.
- Familiarity with MRP systems and lean techniques.
- Previous experience in a similar role within manufacturing or fabrication environments.
