White Label is working with a machinery manufacturing business in Bradford that requires a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will take ownership of designing new machinery using SolidWorks, taking products from initial concept through prototype and into production. You will work closely with manufacturing, fabrication and project management teams, playing a key role in both new product development and ongoing design support. My client is offering a salary of £40,000 – £45,000 + benefits: * 39-hour week — 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday to Thursday, 8:00am to 3:30pm Friday (30-minute lunch break) * 29 days holiday per year, plus loyalty holidays - 1 extra day per year of service up to a maximum of 5 additional days * Pension (3% employer contribution) Duties of the Mechanical Design Engineer * Designing new machinery using SolidWorks 3D CAD, from concept through to manufacture. * Developing prototypes and conducting testing to ensure performance, reliability and safety. * Producing manufacturing documentation including 2D engineering drawings, assembly drawings, BOMs and customer procurement drawings. * Supporting production during manufacturing and resolving design issues as they arise. * Managing design changes and maintaining accurate engineering documentation. * Performing design-to-cost calculations and preparing technical reports. * Researching competitor products and contributing to new product development. * Providing occasional on-site customer support, including presentations and fault finding. Experience Required of the Mechanical Design Engineer * Minimum 5 years' experience in mechanical design engineering. * Strong proficiency in SolidWorks and CAD, with experience taking products from concept through prototype to manufacture. * Experience in machinery, special purpose machinery, automation or industrial machinery is advantageous. * Desirable: stainless steel fabrication, motor drives and inverters, conveyor systems, Design for Manufacture (DFM), cost estimation. * Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
