Are you an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer looking for a new challenge? This is a fantastic opportunity to take full ownership of projects. You will be responsible for designing parts, performing calculations (including drivetrain or pressure housing), and managing the entire product lifecycle. Your duties will also include designing production processes, writing test specifications, conducting design reviews, and providing ongoing support to production teams.
You will have the opportunity to work with SolidWorks, design mechanical assemblies, and manage hydraulic assemblies, and the designs you create will contribute directly to the successful delivery of critical projects. This is a hands–on role, where you will also be involved in problem–solving production issues and ensuring designs meet high standards.
The Person
Ideally 5 years of experience in mechanical design, ideally within industries that deal with harsh environment materials such as chemical, nuclear, or subsea applications.
Essential Skills:
- Degree Qualified in Mechanical Engineering preferred but not essential
- Proficient in SolidWorks 3D design software or similar 3D CAD packages Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, NX, etc
- Experience designing for harsh environments (e.g., chemical, nuclear, subsea)
- Background in low–volume manufacturing
- Strong experience in drivetrain design
- Ability to work across the full product lifecycle
- Excellent problem–solving and fault–finding skills
- Solid understanding of materials and coatings for harsh environments
Salary & Benefits
Salary: GBP45,000 – GBP50,000 per annum, depending on experience
Benefits:

- 25 days holiday + bank holidays
- Flexible working hours: 37.5 hours per week with options to work from 8:30 am – 5:00 pm (Monday to Thursday) and 8:30 am – 2:00 pm (Friday) or 8:00 am – 4:30 pm (Monday to Thursday) with 8:00 am – 1:30 pm on Fridays.
- Hybrid working: 1 day working from home per week
