Do you take pride in precision? Love seeing your designs come to life on the shop floor? We're a well-established, growing sheet metal fabrication business and we're looking for a hands-on CAD Technician to join our long-standing team in Liverpool. This is a role for someone who gets sheet metal - ideally with a shop floor background or exposure to laser cutting, folding, and fabrication processes. You'll own your projects from first drawing to finished product, with plenty of scope to grow.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Taking customer orders and producing complete drawing packs for production and works orders
  • Designing flat pack sheet metal part profiles using RADAN and other CAD software (2D/3D)
  • Managing each job as your own project — start to finish
  • Applying reverse engineering knowledge to solve real manufacturing challenges
  • Liaising with customers to seek approvals and resolve technical queries
  • Outputting files for CAM post-processing and coordinating with subcontractors
  • Supporting the shopfloor team face to face during production
  • Feeding improvement ideas back to senior management

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in a sheet metal or fabrication environment — shop floor background a real advantage
  • CAD software proficiency; RADAN experience or CAD/CAM knowledge advantageous but not essential
  • Understanding of sheet metal processes: laser cutting, folding, bending, and bolting
  • Reverse engineering experience or mindset — a big plus
  • Strong mathematical and practical engineering skills
  • Able to work independently, hit deadlines, and manage multiple projects
  • Clear communicator at all levels — customers, colleagues, and management
  • Sharp eye for detail and a genuine commitment to quality

What's On Offer

  • £30,000 – £35,000 depending on experience
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Pension: 3% employer / 5% employee
  • Training and development opportunities
  • A role with real variety — interesting design work, no two jobs the same
  • Join a long-standing, supportive team that values what you bring
  • Be part of an expanding business with genuine room to grow

Interview Process

  • Stage 1: Face-to-face interview
  • Stage 2: Practical skills test
