As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a critical leadership role within our integrated mechanical, electrical, and building services design function. Reporting directly to the M+E Design Manager, you'll take full responsibility for the design and delivery of electrical systems across complex projects — setting design direction, mentoring junior engineers, and driving innovation in low carbon technologies. This position requires an experienced and confident engineer who can combine deep technical knowledge with strong commercial awareness. You’ll bring strategic thinking to the table, shape early stage concepts, and ensure robust, regulation-compliant systems are delivered to the highest standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the end-to-end electrical design process from feasibility to detailed execution, across high profile HVAC and refrigeration projects
  • Provide senior-level technical guidance and mentoring to intermediate and junior engineers
  • Collaborate with the estimating and sales team to review enquiries and develop competitive, compliant concept solutions
  • Oversee site surveys and evaluate existing systems, identifying integration opportunities and retrofit solutions
  • Champion best practices in energy-efficient design — including power load calculations, energy modelling, and controls integration
  • Review and approve all electrical engineering documentation, from schematics to commissioning plans, ensuring clarity and compliance
  • Act as technical authority in client meetings, representing the company with confidence and offering clear solutions to complex design challenges
  • Liaise closely with the Projects Team during design handover, providing technical assurance throughout the build phase
  • Lead post-project reviews to drive continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and innovation across the team

The Person:

  • A minimum of an HNC in Building Services or a related discipline
  • At least 3 years of experience working as a Senior Electrical Design Engineer within the building services industry or 7 years experience working as a Senior Electrical Design Engineer within the building services industry
  • Experience using AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of heating/HVAC design and calculations would be a huge benefit
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams
  • A full UK driving licence
